There has been a game changing change in regulation for SMEs and micro entrepreneurs selling online. The GST Council has decided small businesses with a turnover of less than Rs 40 lakh will not have to register themselves for GST. This was seen as a big regulatory challenge, and one that micro entrepreneurs as well as small business struggled to comply with. ‘With an estimated 5 crore MSMEs currently unable to sell online due to compulsory GST requirements, this game-changing measure can be an enabler for millions of small units including artisans, boutiques and mom-and-pop stores,’ said Meesho’s co-founder Vidit Aatrey.
